It's about individuals...

Phi Delta Theta teaches men that the commitments outlined in the Fraternity's Bond are not merely remote ideals, but areas of discipline for daily life. Phi Delts support, and in turn have the support of, their brothers in living these principles. Through The Bond of Phi Delta Theta, men with different backgrounds but similar ideals unite with a common purpose: to foster excellence in scholarship, leadership, individual growth, and involvement in community service.

It's about friends...

The men of Phi Delta Theta share important commitments to the intense bond of friendship between brothers, to high academic achievement, and to living life with integrity. A Phi Delt has high expectations for himself and his brothers. He believes that one man is no man.

 It's about brothers...

Today, Phi Delta Theta is an international fraternity with 165 chapters. Among its most notable alumni are senators, governors, business leaders, astronauts, authors, athletes, college presidents, Supreme Court justices, and personalities in television, print, and the movie industry. The men of Phi Delta Theta include James Baker, Lou Gehrig, Neil Armstrong, Frank Lloyd Wright, Benjamin Harrison, Sam Nunn, Burt Reynolds, Tim Conway, Detlef Schrempf, and Hank Ketchum.

Individuals. Friends. Brothers.

PHI DELTA THETA is among the top 3 in the nation for college fraternities.

Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity was founded in 1848 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The New Jersey Alpha Chapter was founded on April 23, 1988 and was recently re-installed May 16, 2009.

Phi Delt NJ Alpha has initiated 400 brothers, and we currently have 55 active members. Our chapter GPA is in the top 5 on campus, we have had several large-scale community service and philanthropy projects- such as our fund raiser for Eric Legrand, where the chapter was able to raise $22,000 for the Legrand family- as well as the best social events offered by any fraternity. We mix with the best sororities on campus, hold awesome brotherhood events throughout the year, and have many alumni events- where you can meet and network with our many prestigious alumni from nearly every industry.

We place a high value on scholastic achievement and overall personal development. But we also know the importance of having a good time. We work hard and play harder. Not only do we provide BOTH our pledges AND brothers with a very robust scholarship program and opportunities to gain professional experience and contacts- but we also hold off-site social events with sororities and other chapters of Phi Delta Theta. Last Spring Break, the chapter took a trip to Cancun and Montreal.

What does it takes to be a Phi Delt?

To start, we have very high expectations of our bothers, including a track record of outstanding scholastic achievement and community involvement. After you meet the current brothers during rush or recruitment events, you will be contacted for an interview with several brothers and two Executive members. The organization then has a meeting to discuss all candidates and bids are sent to those who we deem to be exceptional.

Then, the pledge process.

8 week Comprehensive Pledge Program is secret- but it includes the following:

- Brotherhood events
- Pledge class events
- Philanthropy events
- Community service
- Scholarship advancement
- Social events

Not only will you be participating in these, but you will gain important experience in having to plan some as well.
